About the research


REIA is partnering with Cotality to deliver a national white paper to support agents in demonstrating how energy-efficient features influence residential property sales outcomes.

While research already exists on energy efficiency, this project is unique in its agent-first approach to help translate data into practical knowledge that can be used in real listing conversations, appraisals, and client presentations.

The white paper will show how energy-efficient features can increase property value, giving agents clear, practical evidence to explain price uplift, buyer interest and competitive advantage.

To ensure this work reflects real market conditions, we are seeking real-world agent case studies from across Australia.



Why participate?


By contributing a case study, you’ll help build credible, market-ready evidence that agents can use to:


  • Help shape national industry practice and the future energy efficiency disclosure
  • Be recognised as leaders in the evolving high-performance sustainable housing market
  • Support seller expectations with real data


Selected contributors will also be recognised nationally in the white paper, giving you powerful third-party credibility you can use in listing pitches. When competing for an energy-efficient property, you’ll be able to point prospective clients to the research and show that you’re recognised by Real Estate Institute of Australia and Cotality as a leading agent in marketing and selling energy-efficient homes.

Selected case studies will also receive a $500 Visa gift card, recognising your contribution to shaping national industry insights.



What we’re looking for


We’re seeking examples where energy-efficient or high-performance features clearly contributed to sales outcomes, such as:


  • Increased sale price
  • Stronger buyer interest or competition
  • Faster time on market
  • Improved buyer confidence

This may include properties featuring:


  • Improved insulation or thermal performance
  • Solar or renewable energy systems
  • Energy-efficient appliances or HVAC
  • Design elements that enhanced comfort, efficiency or market appeal

Most importantly, we’re looking for case studies that demonstrate a clear connection between these features and property value or sales performance.

SUBMIT YOUR CASE STUDY


EOIs will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Up to five case studies will be selected for inclusion in the final white paper.

Submissions close Friday, 13 March 2026.

*$500 Visa gift cards will be awarded only to case studies selected for inclusion in the final white paper. The gift card will be issued to the individual who submitted the original Expression of Interest. If the research does not proceed, no gift cards will be awarded.
