The quarterly data contained in Real Estate Market Facts are based on actual sales prices submitted to appropriate State and Territory Departments for the purposes of collection of stamp duty and recording changes of ownership. Likewise, the rental data is based on the weekly rents recorded on rental bond lodgement forms that are submitted to appropriate State and Territory rental bonds agencies.

Real Estate Market Facts is released about 10 weeks after the close of each quarter to which the data refer, and is the only single publication that provides such a comprehensive coverage of recent movements in residential sales prices and rentals in each capital city.
